W212 E250 Bluetec DEF parts

I have P20B9 "Reductant heater "A" control circuit open code. I understand it means I most likely need to replace the heated Urea Supply Line.

Noting that it may be covered under 8/80,000 mile emissions warranty.

I am having trouble finding the part or part number...anyone know where I can find one online?

Agreed. The other heater and pump runs at least $800.

First step is to make sure I don't have a loose wire someplace. Then check to see if it is a 8/80,000 mile emissions warranty part. Documentation is a little fuzzy on that.

That part is *technically* not part of the 8/80,000 but it depends on the dealer. If its still under 80k they may do it on good will. Normally just the DPF (and SCR unit) are covered I believe. On mine when it needed the DPF they needed a sensor/wiring harness in the process and covered those too.

I was guessing that, but wasn't sure. I am trying to get into it today...just to see what I can find.

Confirmed, no coverage by 8/80,000 emissions warranty

Confirmed, no coverage by warranty. Additionally, dealer quoted me $1,835 before tax to repair. They wanted to order entire repair kit for the heater in the tank etc.

However, upon research from xmodel (https://xemodex.com/us/product/scr-tank-heater-kit-for-mercedes-benz-e250-e350/) they indicate that the code is due to the line heater, and it can be fixed by replacing that only (212-470-78-64).

Quote: "Our kit will not resolve problem with the diagnostic trouble code P20B9. This code refers the heated urea supply line, also known as heater “A”. The entire line between the pump and the dosing module will have to be replaced in order for this code to clear."

If this benefits someone else here in the future...here is my plan...

1. replace the heated DEF line from the pump to the injector for about $150. Part number 212-470-78-64
2a. If that fails, purchase the Xmodel part for the tank at the link above for $550.... OR
2b. Work another solution I learned about (wire in a light bulb or resistor or something in the circuit). As I understand it DEF doesn't freeze till 12 deg F, and it NEVER gets that cold here...25 at the worst. Probably will experiment with this one while accomplishing #1 just to see what happens.

If all else fails, I will have to "configure for off road use only" or continue to bask in the warm glow of the ever present check engine light.

Preference is to fix it correctly...but if all else fails...

My intent will be to post my fix to the benefit of all.
