That's an accurate description of match porting, as I said : use a gasket to see if you really need it...
I doubt it, this is not a cheap P.O.C. GM / Ford slapped to - gether on Friday.... Look at some pictures of non EGR manifolds, as there are holes in both, my gray market has them welded up so I got the correct non EGR ones... If how it looks makes no difference just use the exhaust one, *if* you decide to match port it, ask if they can also polish smooth the inside for better exhaust flow and reduced heat transfer . Smoothing up the inside of the exhaust manifold also makes your entire exhaust system last longer not that that's an issue with Mercedes but it sure is on anything else . Have fun here, don't let it drive you crazy .
