Did you check your compression by just pressing the rubber seal against an opening or do you have an adapter already?

pelicanparts sells one for $24 but it looks like you may have to remove the schrader valve from it:

OTC tolls makes the best leak-down tester. Most others are low pressure only and you have to set them up.
