SDL seat spring 87 versus 91 w126

Looking for some knowledge

Were the 86/87 seat springs identical to the 91 sdl's or identical to the early 80's 300sd's???

I know the 91's had Better corner springs added to the Seats versus the Early 80's SD models... so trying to figure out which springs the 86/87 sdl's were originally built with.

thanks

They changed to the better springs at the same time as they changed to the newer style upholstery (89 or 90?)? The 86/87 SDL has the same seat springs as the older W126 but the frame and sliders are different from 86 up.

So 86/87 sdl -- had better side support w/ improved Frame??? Or NOT really

I know the 90/91 had extra coils in corners -- which greatly improved bottoming the corners of seat

No, the frame is different for the memory and stuff, the springs are the same. The 90-91 ones are the only different springs. You can put the foam parts in the corners of the older springs, but they have the extra spring across the middle too.
