Use a thread locker on those bolts. Permatex "Blue" at a minimum. I'd use the "Red".

Mounted Condenser

Mounted condenser and crimped some hose.
Mounted 90w pusher fan. the curved blades should be quieter than the OEM straight blade fan.

Thanks!
All bolts have lockwashers. I'll keep a close eye on them and if they start backing out, I'll take it apart and redo with threadlock.

TXV

Pulled the TXV, drilled it out, flushed.
ready for new TXV

Made and hooked up second hose to the compressor.

Trying to decide if I want to relocate the drier.

also going to put a zip tie on the pod that moves the fresh air flap so it stays shut.

I know it's a bit nit-picky but for goodness sakes, paint those condensor fan support bars! You are doing such a thorough job and those battered bars stand out like a sore thumb.

FINISHED!

flipped the condenser over, luckily the hoses still reached.

added about 3 oz of pag to the compressor fill hole.

hooked it all back up, drew a vacuum, let it sit for an hour, then filled with duster(152a)

I used the pressure method to fill, IE, get it to a stable pressure, keep an eye on the high side for fast increase.
my pressures stabilized at 50/200. I didn't totally fill the system, because my high side stabilized and didn't move for at least half a can (5oz).
when rev'd, high side is 250. it was about 90*F outside.

I could probably add a little more, but I don't think it needs it, I'd rather have a little less reserve, than too much and spike the high side.

90*F outside. AC is cool at idle, and COLD running down the road.

The Sanden compressor is awesome!
easily half the drag or less compared to the York.

will post some pics later.

tools

pics of some tools I used.
I need to cleanup the garage now.

oh, for the beginner. when you get your ac gauges, you will probably need to use the small tool that comes with them and turn the "needle pokers" counterclockwise so they will engage the schraader valves on the service ports.

Where's the BFH? NO tool selection is complete without a BFH.

Was that a MasterCool crimping set? I've been meaning to get a crimper but every time I see the price for the MasterCool I choke.

Adjusted the TXV 1/4 turn clockwise to get better temps and lowside pressure.
