I'm continuing a round of preventative maintenance tasks.

When my drivers side lamp wouldn't push out easily due to seal sticking to paint, I decided to loosen it by prying with a trim tool.

The old rubber was totally dried out and just crumbled.

I found part #'s for the seal but it has been out of stock for so long the dealer didn't even show that as a valid part #. It took a long time to tool some black silicone glue to fix the damage.

New fixtures from Mercedes are available but way too pricey to consider, over $200 dollars for the left and right ones.

I'd like to see a thread started about " don't do what I did ". I bet we could avoid quite a few problems in the future.
