W123/ AC dial wheel decal

Anyone know a part number for the sticker or decal that goes on the AC dial wheel? Or has anyone made one?

Mine looks like it’s been touched daily for 40 years.

Good luck with that. I tried "retouching" mine with blue and black sharpie. Doesn't look particularly bad but is certainly not as good as it should be. Had no luck finding a replacement when I was doing mine. Perhaps just looking for used wheels on e-bay might be your best bet.

If it's possible to easily get the wheel off I would have no trouble copying it. I'll have to take a look when I get time.

Edit: just looked on ebay and someone is selling new stickers for $8. Can't beat that.

If it's the same one I've seen it won't work for an 81 240D. It has the heat section on it so it's from a 300D with the actual climate control. As opposed to the 240D with the AC only wheel and two seperate heater controls.

Rog -give us a link!

I found something but it was $20 and the wrong sticker (has heat controls as poster above specified)

I appreciate the offer! Getting the wheel off is no problem. Took the dial apart to clean it and replace a bulb a few weeks ago.
I’ll see if I can get a spare and ship it to you.

I didn't think links worked on here... I guess that's different than what you need, but anyway it's definitely an easy craft project. I'd have to have one in hand though, since it's going to be different than the heat/cool ones.

The A/C wheel on my 240D didn't have the temp numbering or the red. It was just blue and white. I cut a two pieces of vinyl and applied them. It's been good for 5 years so far!

Vinyl? As opposed to a sticker?

Not getting a mental image… Would you mind posting a photo?

Vinyl as in the kind for automotive lettering or for a vehicle wrap. I have a small vinyl plotter and a bunch of scrap vinyl around. I cut two pieces (by hand) and applied them.

That looks pretty good. Nicely done. As of now, that appears to be the best way forward
