Question Mercedes E320 Brake Weare Warning

My 2008 Mercedes Benz E320 Bluetec just gave a "Brake Wear" warning on the dashboard.
Question: after replacing the brake pads is it necessary to reset something to clear the warning or it clears by itself?
The sensors also need to be replaced, correct?
Will the ceramic pads help the wheels not to get dusty like the generic pads do? Any recommended brand other than OEM?
Thanks

Once your sensors have worn to ground, they must be replaced. Your warning will go off after replacement. Forget about the brake dust. Live with it and just clean your wheels unless you want to be changing your rotors at every pad change. I would use Textar or ATE.

About "change your rotors" you mean that is better not to use ceramic pads?
Thanks

Can't you reuse the sensors like we do in the 126's? They just fit in a hole in the brake pads and do not touch until the pads wear down sufficiently; once they make contact the brake pad light comes on. Do the new ones work differently? Have never seen one.

On the 126's the sensor will touch the wheel rotor and make contact to ground and the light will go on. I also never saw the E320's sensor but it will work the same principle.
Consequently the sensors can not be reused. Personally, since we are doing the brake service it is worth to get all sensors replaced.

Not sure what you are saying. On the 126's you can use the sensors over and over because the tip never touches the rotor until the brake pads wear down. I have reused mine for years.

Are the new ones different?

As long as the brake wear light didn't come on you can reuse the sensor. Once the coating is scraped off from the sensor dragging on the rotor it must be replaced. They're so cheap that they're foolish not to replace while doing a pad change anyway.
