You realize that accepting money voids your amateur status!!

When are you gonna learn how to fix M103s??? But $50 an hour? That's almost as much as an engineer makes!!

Does this mean that if I drive my car to your house, you'll fix it for the cost of the parts plus grocery money?

Mike - I'll bet there are very few dealerships that provide an excellent running 1985 300TD as a loaner car .
Paul - we spend $400+/month for groceries around this house (he paid for about 1/2 a month). I guess I ought to throw in beer cost as well .
He has a late 80's 300SE he wants me to look at next because of oil consumption (I figure valve guide seals) and also an '83 300D that he wants me to help him sell on ebay. I have not decided whether I want to mess with the valve guide seals or not. If it gets too much like "work" it will no longer be a hobby. I am considering advertising in the local paper - MB W123 diesel mechanic - Sat and Sunday work only. This fella just got frustrated with the local independent because he said everytime he carried his car in it was at least $500.
Oh yea, Stephen - this engineer takes his "engineers" hat off on Sat and Sunday unless I am called in which very rarely happens.

Jim, I think it would be safe to offer Paul that deal... if he can drive his car to your place from where he is HOW much could be wrong with it ?
