I’m looking a set of 8 slot rims that are 112 mm bolt pattern and 37* offset that should fit a 85sd right?
I appreciate the help. Pictures below show what’s on car now. greazer2b Last edited by greazer2b; 04-26-2023 at 06:06 PM. |

Not without a spacer. You need 23-25mm offset rims for these cars.

Compared to where it sits without the spacer, yes. Sticking out unusually on the car, no. Without a spacer the wheels will be tucked in too close to the body and will rub the suspension. The spacer corrects the offset. Many people (myself included) consider spacers an extremely undesirable and potentially dangerous thing. Do some research if you are determined to go down that route.

I have 6.5x15" rims with a 35mm offset on my 123 and other than having to roll the fender lip they fit great. The wheel opening wouldn't allow much more outward offset for that size, so if you need to space them out I would go the smallest amount possible.

By some definitions that doesn't fit.

Dang, that sucks. You can actually measure for rims pretty easily and there are lots of tutorials out there, whether you'd rather read about it or see it visually on Youtube. Pretty much it comes down to the space you have inside the wheel opening. You could put a crazy negative offset wheel on it that would stick out several inches, but it would have to be a tiny diameter or it would interfere with turning and hit when you went over bumps. Similarly, if you wanted a 17" rim you'd have to pick something that's narrow enough and has a higher offset to fit inside the fender. That's a rough generalization of course.
Sounds like you'll just want a 2mm spacer, as long as they're not too wide. Measure first to be sure. The rears are a lot more forgiving for sizing but you want it to look even anyway. If you run a Diesel Purge you can put monster truck tires on it. A little tip for ya. |

If wheels under consideration have an ET of 37mm, then spacers of 12-15.5mm would be required to place the center line of the tire in the OEM position. |

Thanks, that sounds like a lot of spacer to me something I wouldn’t want on the car.
How much different would the a car track if I went with a replacement of the bad rim with a 23 offset? Thx greazer2b |

I think I have exactly those rims on my SD.
The ones I got with the car were custom fitted at a big tire specialty store by the PO. He bought 4. He left a 14” Bundt in the trunk with a baggie of shorter lug bolts. I went to the JY and found a cosmetically similar wheel on a 300E (w124). I didn’t realize it was a different offset and I bought it for a spare. I got a flat a few years ago and noticed the offset was off. The wheel is so far in it disappears in the 126 wheel well. I disliked the rims from day one and wish the idiot po stuck with the bundts. I could kinda tell he was a vain bird by his other service records. But the car came with four new 15” Michelins so I stuck with them long enough to get used to them. Would it help you if I pulled them off and photographed the markings on the insides? I recall they say made in Italy inside and the 300E one says made in Germany. Does this mean a set of w123 bundts won’t sit right on a w126? That would be good to know if I ever decide to go back to bundts. Here is my 300SD ![]()

W123, W126, R107, and W116 are all "low offset" cars and can trade wheels. You cannot use stock bundts on a 1986+ W126 due to the bigger brakes which require a 15" wheel minimum.

Ok, I guess that makes sense. I took the wheel with the funny offset off a 300E w124. I should try swapping my bundts from my 300d to my 300sd to see how it looks.
