I have never seen even a picture of what the drain line looks like. But, the drain line is not under much pressure but the Oil is used to cool off the turbo so it is likely it is very hot. That means whatever you use needs to be able to take the heat.
Your Car is 34 years old. One would think that if you replaced it with another stock setup it it is going to last longer then the rest of the Car.

Well decided to tear into her today because oil leak was too much, pulled the return line....... 🤷*♂️ Top had no O-ring, we must’ve forgot to slip it in when i rebuilt it 5 years ago which was a surprise. Put the O-ring in we loosened the top items turbo attachment bolts to give some wiggle room, put the return line on WITH the O Ring on lol .. tightened everything back down .... degreased the bottom took her for a spin , not a Drop !!! Went to town after to grab some stuff, got her up to speed an gave her a little more .... shes dry as a whistle
