My e300td is cranking but not starting. Battery good and i changed the main fuel filter. The number 6 glow plug is not working and stuck..thats another story. I gave up and had it towed to mechanic who said removed air from fuel system and car started. This morning same story, car cranks and does not start. The car was not starting before I changed filter so i figure a leak somewhere at the injectors?

When you pull plug out of glow plug relay and put multimeter how do.you test for good or bad plugs at the 6 pin plug?

Time to replace all the rubber and plastic hose assemblies on complete fuel system under intake manifold. Also all the o rings including one under sov.

Use ohm meter to ck each pin to ground. One with skewed number (versus others) will be one with issue.

Easy on this car. Just remove intake manifold and replace the hoses. The hoses are properly positioned when the little white plastic "clamp" looking piece is pulled away from the hose connector.

These cars are a little pia to get running after replacing these hoses.

Not knowing where you live,if the temperature is cold, the car should still start with one bad plug. If you have another plug that went bad, the odds are that the engine will not start in cold weather. Easy to check before you start to spin your wheels looking elsewhere..............Good luck!!!

Just an update on my car. I took my car to a shop and was quoted $1600.00 to change the fuel lines and change all the glow plugs. All I wanted was to change a few fuel lines and the number 6 plug which is stuck and not broken.
Holy cow!!!!!!!!!

Mechanic tells me i need to change all the plugs and the relay..I checked relay before bringing him the car and was fine as well aa the 5 other plugs which i changed myself 3 months ago.

I’m assuming you filled the filter to the top to help prime it? The fuel lines are easy they just clip off and clip on. It’ll still start with a bad glow plug. Seems like you still got air in the system

I filled the filter with diesel before tightening. I told the mechanic all i want is the number 6 plug removed near the firewall. ...Not all 6....wow ..trying to sell me work ..i guess there is a sucker born every minute...I got the car back home and will do the job myself

$1600 sounds pretty pricey.

And the response I get from mechanic is "dont waste my time"....

I know how he feels. What part of the world do you live? Around here that job goes for parts plus about 3 hours (if #6 comes out easily).

I would agree with you ..I figured 3 hours labor . I was quoted over $800 in Labor

The fuel lines are pretty easy, there is a bolt on the intake manifold you have to get from underneath and that's probably the hardest part. When I did mine I remember it being around $200 for parts and took a couple hours. One of those cars is for sure not worth owning if you have to pay someone to work on it, they aren't that exciting compared to what else you could get for a similar amount of money.
