All terrain tires for W123 300TD: General Grabber AT/X? Tire Recappers Rambler?
I live in the middle of nowhere and spend more time driving on wet dirt and loose gravel than on dry pavement. I just bought a set of rims so that I can have have a set of touring tires as well as a set of all terrain tires.
So far, the all terrain tires that have caught my eye are: Tire Cappers "Rambler AT". 26" x 7" (listed as 7" and also as 195/75, though a 7" would be 178mm, so something is off). https://www.tirerecappers.com/tires/all-terrain-tires/lt19575r14-retread-rambler-at/ General "Grabber A/TX". 27" x 8.6" (roughly a 215/75 if my math is straight). https://generaltire.com/tires/light-trucksuv/grabber-atx I'd prefer the Grabber as it has very good reviews and is a new (non-retread) tire. I'm concerned that it's so tall I might hit a fender, and so wide I might hit a tie rod. The Rambler seems well regarded, but I'm lukewarm on buying a retread. I'm rolling on 205/70 touring tires right now, and the size seems fine but the off-road traction is very poor. Thoughts on these tires? I'm open to any other suggestions! I'm in USA, for what that's worth. Cheers, and thanks. Last edited by 300TD1982; 12-14-2020 at 10:51 PM. Reason: math is hard |
