turbo vac can gets constant vac, stays open 1993 300D

the circled can when reconnected gets a constant vacuum causing the engine to quit, the vac line goes into some sort of wired controller. whats going on? do I need to replace that little black controller?

While I cannot answer your question, I will say that the way to cut through the Gordian Knot of vacuum and boost gremlins in your car is to convert to a pressure actuated wastegate. $90 of your money, a few hours of your time, and you completely eliminate EVERYTHING vacuum related on the passenger side of the engine. If you still have problems, at least you've eliminated a bunch of possible causes.

In fact, yours sounds like a textbook case where this mod is genuinely need....most people do it just to get rid of EGR and as a preventative measure. But it sounds like you have the problems the rest of us fear.

Wastegate actuator swap for OM602.962?

Wastegate actuator swap for OM602.962 - revisited

All the information is there...but it's a lot to read through and, in the nature of the case, is not well organized. I had to read many times before it "clicked"....but you may be more mechanically intuitive than I. Once you get it, it's really very simple.

If I'm understanding your question correctly....the wastegate SHOULD get constant vacuum until the computer kills it thereby opening the wastegate.

correction the intake flap actuator labeled 99 and 100 on the above picture is getting a constant vac and goes hard over killing the engine.

I think that has to do with mixing the air from the EGR into the intake.

I replaced my vacuum wastegate actuator with a standard pressure based one with manual boost controller and just disconnected that flap actuator thing.

Yep, that's my understanding of it. I have both disabled and have replaced the wastegate actuator with a standard pressure model.

Here are some pics of my endeavors:
