Window Run Replacement on W123
Hi,
I am preparing to replace the window run on front driver's door on my 83 300TD. I've searched for directions here and on other forums but have found nothing very helpful. Hoping for some tips from those who have done this. Here are the steps I'm sure of: Remove door panel and plastic (done) Remove inner and outer sealing rails Now my questions: Do I need to remove the window or can it be lowered enough to be out of the way? If I do need to remove the window do I need to remove the window lift to do that? I have replaced a couple of window lifts in the past but it was years ago and don't remember how everything fit together. The garage is cold and I don't want to spend too much time screwing up. Next step would be remove old window run and replace with new. Thanks for your help JD

I completed the task. Not too hard after all.

Window run replacement.
This is for driver's side front door but will be same for passenger side front door and similar for rear doors. 1. remove interior handles, trim and door card, etc. 2. remove mirror 3. remove inner and outer window scrapers 4. remove two 10 mm bolts that hold window to regulator (easiest access is with window raised about 1/4). 5. Carefully remove window, you have to lift it up part way and tip front edge down to get it out, 6. Lower regulator 7. remove 3 nuts and 1 bolt that hold regulator to door (10mm) (you only need to loosen far left bolt) lower to provide access to front track for window-run. 8. pull out old window-run 9. press in new window-run from rear end of door to front. Front end is hardest because you have to work around the regulator motor. 10. reinstall regulator nuts and bolt 11. raise regulator about 1/4 12. reinsert window 13. reattach window to regulator (this took some finagling) -- 2 10mm bolts 14. check to be sure everything is lined up by running window up and down 15. reinstall window-scrapers (I replaced exterior). 16. re-attach install door card (easier to secure top to inner window scraper/seal with mirror removed) 17. reinstall mirror 18. re-attach interior door handles and trim Enjoy a quieter more weather-proof ride.

Did you use the URO brand ones?
If so how did they fit?

I did use a URO window-run. It fit fine but seems to stick out a bit more at the rear upper corner than the original -- though it still seems firmly seated. Window opens and closes fine.
I bought a URO sun-roof seal a few years ago that I could not get to fit so bought an OEM one which did fit easily.
