W123 Manual Window Regulator

Hey all,

Has anyone replaced the manual window regulator in their W123? My 240D regulator broke and my mechanic installed a URO regulator and now the window doesn't roll down all the way. I've found manual regulators from Dorman and TRQ, but want to make sure they're the proper fitment so the same thing doesn't happen. Thanks!

I don't know anything knock-off regulators, however, one from any W123 will work on your 240D. In fact, years ago I used manual regulators from a 240D to replace the electrics on my 280E. I suggest you find one in a Pick&Pull. It may be old, but the fit of an OEM is guaranteed and in most cases they last a lifetime.

I have a uro regulator in my 240. It rolls down just fine. I would remove it and check the gear mesh. If its off by a couple of teeth that would cause your issue and is a pretty easy fix.

It is as the others said. The question is if the Dorman ones will have issues. I have never read of anyone using the doorman ones.

If it were mine, I would also check to see if there is some other issues going on beside the regulator.

There is a thermo-switch inside of the motors. If resistance is enough, it shuts the motor off. What that means is if there is enough resistance to the movement of the window the motor shuts off.

Well, I did not specifically say after that was about the power window, but I did say he should check to see if something else was causing the issue with the new regulator. I felt it was clear because he does not have a manual window regulator installed to check on.

Concerning the below quote from the first post from what I have read on the forum many 240Ds have power windows. So, I took it to mean that the URO replacement was a power window regulator and like some he wanted to replace it with a manual one.

Try going to the APA URO catalog site. I did not find any window regulators at all.

Post Manual Window Lifts

When the driver's side one on my 1982 240D went "! BOING!" and stopped raising the glass, I ordered a new one from the M-B Classic Center, it was under $45, fit right in and I have no doubt it'll outlast me .
