I've got a 2012 S350 Bluetec. It's had the emissions correction for the recall.

The Add Fuel Additive warning came on a couple of days ago and I put two gallons of DEF in it. The warning is still on. I have done this several times successfully, once after the recall. It's not down to the 16 starts, but I don't want to get there either.

Probably a non working level sensor. There are three in the tank in the low, mid, and "full" range. Is it all the way filled up to the brim? Chances are the sensor is just bad. It may still be covered by the emissions warranty if its under 4 years/48k since the emissions recall work was performed.

Thanks. I suspected as much, but was looking to see if anyone had had a similar experience. Looked the R & R and it seems pretty simple except for their screwy wrench, but will check warranty first.

Mercedes Bluetec Settlement

Among the items included are:

• DEF injector,
• DEF injector controller,
• DEF supply module,
• DEF pump,

The level sensor should be included within of one of these items (supply module?).

I got a code a few months ago for the DEF system on my wife’s 2014 ML350 and they replaced the whole system within the tank for free.
