1984 300D Turbo; how to find power steering pump brand?
I am checking into parts/seals and so far I am seeing parts for Vickers or ZF power steering pumps. Is the brand name imprinted on the pump and if so where? Thank you in advance for any input or help........

I believe no matter the make you need to know the shaft size which is why the main shaft seal does not come with the kit. That is the impression I got from occasional reading of the issue. See the tag in the attached pic. That one is a ZF. If the Tag is gone look for a small ZF casting mark in a circle.

Great, I located it, it is a Sperry-Vickers power steering pump. Many thanks!

People have said you can use the generic power steering puller but the grooves on them are too narrow to fit the lip on the Mercedes Power steering pump. There is something within the 2 sort of half shell collets that needs to be modified. That is info I am trying to remember from like back in 2009. I have not had to pull the hub off of a Merecedes power steering pump.

There is supposed to be something you can do to the parts circiled in red to get it to fit the Mercedes power steering pullies.

There exists two sizes of seals for the front of the power steering pump. I believe the Sperry-Vickers uses the 20mm X 42mm X 7mm size. Does anyone know for sure if this is the correct size?

Before you damage the old one getting it out, look closely at as it has the part # and size in tiny raised letters .
Or, just take the oil seal to any bearing house and hand it to the counter guy he'll get it for you cheaply and rapidly . I've done a few of these and I was able to *gently* tap the pulley and slide it off .
