OM601 in 1984 190d oil psi problem

Hiya y'all! I've owned a variety of the OM60x cars over the years, but never had one act quite like this.

Oil psi while operating is fantastic. However, upon cold startup, it takes 8-10sec for oil psi to rise above 0psi. As soon as it jumps up, everything is gravy, but those 10sec on each start are making me nervous.

This is a new-to-me aquisition and history is unknown other than that it's been sitting for ~3yrs.

As soon as I got the car, I changed the oil and filter (Mahle filter and 15w40 diesel oil). Upon noticing slow psi build, I replaced both small o-rings on oil filter housing shaft. The old ones were completely hardened and I was hopeful that new o-rings would resolve issue, but they didn't.

What's my next course of action?

Thanks y'all!
Brad

Check the "check valve" in oil filter cap stem

Hi, as far as I see it, this check valve could be leaking too much of the finely-filtered oil to sump when car is parked. When I do an oil change, while oil is draining, I do the 3 filter stem orings right after firing up the compressor and blowing air through the pinhole in the oil filter cap stem. I suppose during a warm oil change (hopefully), there will likely still be some of the oil in the fine-filter portion of the cartridge that hasn't escaped to the sump through the "supposedly" bad check valve. If filter cap/stem is removed, then at best, only a drop or two from bottom of stem - when blowing air through pinhole on side - a good shot of oil should fly out through bottom of stem - to hopefully land in a rag of sorts.
