OM648 injector correction quantity too high
On my 05 648, when started cold it sometimes misses when first started and generally runs smooth for the first couple of minutes, then the idle is not as smooth as it should be. In SDS under the smooth running screen injector #1 would show around 5.2mm where as all the rest of the injectors are well within spec. I ordered a refurbished injector off ebay and installed it, and the injector was still showing over 5. With this refurbished injector it came with a print out with a new IMA number on it, which SDS would not accept, so I entered the code stamped on the injector. Figuring something was off I then ordered a brand new injector off a seller on ebay from Germany. It arrived and has all the Bosch and MB stamps on it. I suppose its a genuine Bosch injector unless they are good at faking them. Anyway, I installed it yesterday and entered its IMA number which SDS accepted. This injector also shows around +5.24mm. Is it possible this injector is faulty or what else could be causing it to show this? Compression? The strange part is, sometimes it idles perfectly smooth, and other times you can feel a shake like one cylinder is not firing as strong as it should. If it was a compression issue I would think it would do it all the time.

I think the injection quantity correction factors are generated over a period of time? Kind of like long-term fuel adaptations on gasoline cars.
I wouldn't expect the correction factor to change the instant the new injector was installed, is there a way to reset the adaptations? You may have to drive it a couple hundred miles before the ECU realizes theres a different injector installed.

That could be a possibility. I will give it a bit and see what happens. I can say I did drive the car some with that first rebuilt injector, not sure how far off hand though.
