Red face Sorry

I hope the shock wasn't too unpleasant .

A couple of 1979 W123's hit the So. Cal. LKQ yards last week, should be easy enough to get the entire door latch with pot metal part, I forget what I paid but it was under $20 .

Nate,

The metal part on the 79 sounds like a great solution. I’d go treasure hunting if it were cooler. The yards in OC are also infested with those nasty Aedes mosquitoes. I’ll need a malaria vaccine to go now.

I stashed my plastic 3D prints in my parts hoard. I may never need them since I use an electric door popper to open my door. Just fun to print out JHu’s design. He did a good job.

Pretty soon my car is going to be made of 3D printed parts. Remember free printing services are often offered at local libraries. Altadena Library has one where you just bring in a usb drive with the file and they print it for you for free.

Post Parts & Printing

? They'll print out pages for you free of charge ? .

Now that's a wise use of Tax Dollars .

I need to go get some 240D parts before they're gone but I'm working on my old BMW and VW, I hope they're still there when I get to LKQ .

No. Oddly they charge a few cents for paper prints.

3D prints are one free print per day.

I think LA County libraries have a similar deal at some branches.

No it’s not. This is dead simple. It’s analogous to downloading a document and printing it in paper.

Kids can do it. Wrong attitude Nate. The library is a great place to walk into and say “help teach me to…,” where you fill in the blank 3D print an existing file. You can learn how to start a print job using the default settings in less than half an hour. I think the libraries have been charged with teaching the public about this tech. It’s actually interesting that the libraries have taken this on but it is media of sorts - like news print, micro fiche or CDs.

Check out my designs on Thingiverse. Download one of my designs and carry it into the library and ask for help. You may be surprised at what they can do with our tax dollars.

I know I’ve been pestering you about this for years. You’re missing out on something really cool for no reason.

Search w123, Mercedes or 300D there. Lots of great things uploaded for our cars. Just download and carry to a equipped library.

Wondering if anyone has figured out how to 3d print the plastic hook shaped retainers for the door card that always break. Like on a 1981 300SD; it is attached to the front of the door card and goes in a hole in the doorframe to secure the door card. I broke mine about 15 years ago.
