Location of ground straps

Hi, I have a 1980 240D with a 4 speed manual.

I have a few minor electrical issues and thought that I would check and clean each ground strap first.

Does anyone know the location of these straps?
I searched and nothing came up.
Thanks.

Battery cable end, under car bell housing to chassis braided cable, trunk near left wheel well, behind instrument cluster and under the center console shifter area. The wires are all brown.

I cleaned all of the ground straps except for the braided ground strap that I believe goes from the trans to the body.

Does my 1980 240d with a 4 speed manual have this strap, because I have looked everywhere underneath and can't find one.

I think it does, it will go from somewhere between the bell housing and the block to the frame. If not there consider adding one.

Yeah, there should be a braided ground strap from the trans bell housing to the body. On my W115 it's on the RH side, but the '80 W123 240D could be different.

Maybe someone with a W123 can chime in on where exactly it attaches to the body.

Finally found it. Driver's side bellhousing to body.
Thanks for the help.

Look on the left side below the accelerator. Even if present they've usually aged out due to corrosion, consider replacing it or adding one.

I don't have a 240D but on mine the ground strap is about where your feet are under left of the car with a left-hand drive car.

Also, it might not be a braided ground strap.

This eBay seller is selling a ground strap, and you see it is just a bare copper cable.
