Time to replace the foam underneath the hood, W123

The noise-deadening foam under the hood of my 240D is falling apart. Is there a preferred replacement? Since it's pretty well hidden, I don't care too much about keeping it original, but I do want to keep it quiet, and easy to clean would be nice, too.

Been awhile since I’ve done one but new hood pads should be available as a ready to go replacement part. Clean the old one off with a scraper, use and industrial strength adhesive to stick the new one on.

I wish you can find those OG waffle hood pads, all I found were spongy type that dont age well at all. Meaning breaks down with the engine heat and/or fluids.

Use something like dynamat that is foil faced and sound deadening.

I didn't want that sponge on my diesel either. I ended up cleaning off the old stuff and leaving it at that. Bit noisy, but I am used to it.

I have used equivalent of Dynamat on inside of car, but wasn't sure I could keep it stuck on hood.

This is the cheapest I have found

https://www.**********.com/Products/1236800625-MFG36-V2364.aspx
It`s $44.74 r m e u r o p e a n . c o m

They also have the one with the tin foil heat pad.

I have replaced two of them.
Place a tarp across the engine.
Put the Hood in the full up right position.
Use a Putty knife or some type scraper to remove the old pad.
You will need to stand on the engine etc...
Wipe down with some Wax and Grease remover.
Use 3M 8090 spray adhesive on Hood.
Spray the Hood Pad.
Mark the center of the Hood Pad top and bottom center
Place a mark on hood for your alignment.
Start at the top and work one side then the other.
And like magic, you`re done.

It`s been 12 years ago I did the 240 for my BIL.
I just bought it from him a month or so ago for $1500.
needs a new pad, one for oil, and second, rodents making
nesting out it by the battery.

Edit...why did they x it out?
Well DUH...stupid me.... this is Pelican Parts..
I just did a Google search for w123 hood pad

My brain is still back in the days of mercedesshop with Phill,
and fastlane and allpartsexpress.
Where we were trying to help ea other etc....

I bought a new pad from our forum host. I'll put some Kilmat or so on the flat spots first, then the sponge to soak up the oil.
