EGR/mystery connections?

Hi all! I'm brand new here. Currently learning the ins and outs of my recently acquired '81 300TD and wondering about these connections/sensors above the coolant hose, to the left of valve cover. Are these rendered useless by the EGR valve deletion? The left wired connector has some insulation/wire damage and the right (vacuum?) is disconnected. Can I just ignore both or should action be taken? Thanks!

Electric switch is 40*c cutout for heater fan so you don't get blasted with cold air. Vacuum switch is for EGR, its no issue to be left deleted.

Thanks Zedd- I'll make sure the wire is repaired and I'll plug up the vacuum switch. Much appreciated!
