Engine mounts, what all does it take?
OK so I have the baby benz in the shop right now for exhaust replacement. The fu%#ers up there never gave me a quote or even looked into new engine mounts for me. They did verify I needed the passenger side mount replaced but didn't order it. You'd think they would since it's in their best interest... anyway I am already giving them more than I want to for the exhaust (don't really want to talk about that) and so I have decided that if it's not too hard I will tackle replacing that mount myself. Finding the mounts is not a problem, it's just the process of putting it in.
Can someone tell me what all I need (tool and equipment wise) to do this, how difficult it is to do. It appears to be the easier of the two to do since it's the most accessible. My haynes manual says I need some special tool that's mercedes specific. Anything is greatly appreaciated! Thanks in advance.

I did them on the 300D and did not have to have any special tools. I can't imagine needing any special tools. You will want a floor jack and a block of wood. Put the block of wood between the jack and the oil pan. After you get the bolts out you will want to jack the engine up to get the clearance for R&R. Install the new mount and bolt it all back together and you should be good to go.

Hey thanks. That doesn't sound too bad at all. Thanks again!

Oh yeah I forgot to ask, do I have to torque it on at any particular pressure or do I tighten until I can't tighten. I don't have a torque wrench, but luckily my best friend does. Thanks in advance.

watch out, the haynes manual sucks on this one
I have both the haynes and the MB cd. I used both on the mount replacement, which was my first repair that involved doing some serious lifting (ie jacking the engine).
I would follow the MB instructions, especially removing the throttle linkage, which is glossed over or skipped on the Haynes. There are a few bolts that were seized on mine and in a confined space, but you can work through that. I broke a bolt reinstalling it, but that is another story. Let me know if you need the instructions from the MB CD. That way you can see if you are interested in buying the whole thing (I only have instructions for 123 and 126 chassis)... later

Why do you need to disconnect the throttle linkage? That all appears to be flexible enough to take the lifting of the engine...
Do you think the 123 and 126 would be correct for the 201? I'd believe the 126 would be closer to my car since our engines are in the same family... 601 and 603. But the 124 and 201 use the same engine mounts... if that matters. Or if anyone has the 201 CD that'd be great too! Thanks for the help guys!

I have only done it on the 617
The 617 has a ridgid throttle linkage (bars, not a cable) that needs to be disconnected at the firewall and the injection pump. Haynes doesn't mention this. If I would have blindly followed Haynes, I would have had big problems fixing all the linkages that I would have broke jacking up the engine. I haven't had to look at that part of the 603 yet.
And, yup, there are specific torques for the main bolts that hold the mounts in place. (I just looked at the 126 CD, it wasn't real helpful. The rear engine mount looks just like the 123 and is real easy to change, but I can't find any description of how to change the front engine mounts for the 126, there is some discussion of its function and a diagram. There was a good description of the 123 though...)
