Where to jack up the car

How would I jack-up the car from rear using the Hydraulic jack. I mean where will I put the jack in center so that both rear wheels are in air. May be a dum Q but please help me.

Under the differential will be fine. Make sure you chock the front tires and if you climb underneath make sure there are jackstands located underneath the frame at the jack points in front of the rear tires.

Great. Thanks a lot will take all safety precautions. I was jsut a little worried about putting the jack under the differential but I am now ok after your advice. Yes I will not go under the car until I have the jack stands at proper places as backups.

Thanks again

Make absolutely sure you have the jack centered on the rear diff. and take her up slow.

On my old car I preferred to position my floor jack under the circular rear suspension mounts. I don't know exactly how to describe them, but look on the underside of the car, towards the outer edge of the rocker panel in front of the rear wheel you'll see a circular "thing" which is a few inches in diameter.

I never liked the idea of jacking it up on the differential. You can also use the rear suspension arms as a good jacking point.

Ironiclly (sp), the best place a jack is the best place to put the jackstand. Obviously, you can't do both. I suppose you could jack it by the trailing A arm, but NEVER put a jackstand there. Obviously the A arm is meant to move, and that is definetly not where you want a jackstand.
