Rattling Sunroof
Folks-
The manual sunroof on my 83' 300TD is quite loose and has a lot of up/down play. It rattles when it's open, and when it's closed, the panel sits about a half inch above the rest of the roof. Before I start removing parts, is there a common wear item here? I have heard of some sort of plastic slider that breaks, is that it? Thanks all! |

Personally, I found that carefully studying and following the instructions in the Factory Service Manual was the only way to definitively address and resolve sun roof issues. To get a sense of the range of variables, in the FSM's "77-210 Adjusting sun roof lid (mechanical sun roof)" section, the following is listed: "Adjusting front and rear slides" "Adjusting stop rods" "Adjusting front height" "Adjusting rear height" Quote:
Again, I have found a heavy reliance on the FSM and a slow, careful, and methodical inspection, photographing, measuring, and disassembly to be the only viable path to effectively diagnosing and resolving sun roof issues. Your own mileage, so to speak, may vary. |

I appreciate the response! After some investigation, I did find the remains of some the black felt feet that mount on the corners of the panel. I am hoping replacing these will solve my issue.
