OM603 Trap Oxidizer and related
My '87 SDL has had the trap oxidizer replaced with the oxidation catalyst. The trap oxidier setup prohibited fuel additives because of the potential harm they could cause to the trap. With the oxidation catalyst, would you think the fuel additives restriction still applies?
Also, were all '85 300D and '85 300SD's fitted with a trap oxidizer? Finally, how is the oxidation catalyst differect from pre-'85 emmission control systems? Thanks! ------------------ Mark Herzig 1992 500E (82,000 miles) 1987 300SDL (105,000) |

Most diesel fuel additives have "heavy" metals (brass & lead) in their make-up, & these items can damage the catalyst.
Only California versions of the 1985 300DT have trap oxy. |
