Unhappy Front main seal replacement, should I replace the timing chain too?

I am having the front main seal replaced on my 84 300D. Does it make sense to have the timing chain replaced at the same time? The car has 183K miles and none of the records that came with the car indicate the timing chain being replaced.
Thanks,
Tim

I wouldn't replace the chain unless it was out of spec: IE cam more than 3 degrees late. In fact I didn't replace the chain when I replaced the front oil seal on my '80 300SD. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

The 2 jobs are not related, seal job is done from underneath and chain is replaced from above except maybe to rotate the engine. by turning the crankshaft nut.
