Driveshaft costs

dzldog,

To have the driveshaft shortened, rewelded and rebalanced cost $125.00. Your conversion price was within a reasonable price especially since it would have cost you easily that if you just replace the auto with an auto.

Now, however you have broken through to the bright up-lit plains of real diesel driving!!! Forget the cruise control, you'll be having so much fun driving a manual, you won't need it. I'll get Gordon to phot graph how we connected our linkage when we rig a 300DT with a manual tranny. I'll post it on the intercooler site.

I may have gotten ripped for the shaft work. Including shortening, balancing, center baring, uv joint work, and end bushings I paid nearly $300. Although labor costs out here are very very high.
Still, I feel that I saved money in the end; and now I have a much better 300DT than before!

Costs

dzldog,

from everything you had done it sounds about right and you've the "best of all possible worlds".

Hey, if you want to correspond more let's do it over on the "Super Diesel" thread. 300DT Intercooler Pictures. Got more to bring out there.

Thanks,

Ben

Can't say I like the trim rings around the fenderwell. They can also cause the car to rust there, or hide rust in some cases (not saying that car is either or any of those two). I will have to tell CJ about this thread though, he may be interested.

wheel well trim

Tank,

Here in dry California parking lot dings are a lot more prevalent than rust and the trim keeps those to a minimum.

gotcha. they make those magnetic fender skirts for door ding prevention. they are a bit of a nuisance though.
