Don't think I have electronic boost control, I think that was a '92 thing, I'll check the manuals. Also I have a overbost valve I think that went away with the addition of all the electronics. Ill mess yith it more tomorrow and figure more of it out. Now its shifting ok so it nice to drive....... my first MB great car!!!

Heres the latest, picked up a new vacuum transducer from the dealer, $83 list, $66 biz rate. Got that plumbed in, shifting is getting better, seems to be best when the car is cold and gets more abrubt as it warms up, make sense? I'll recheck for vac leaks. Still trying to figure out what the pressure control flap ( at compressor outlet) does?

Thanks

Eric

Eric:

Pressure control or vent back into the turbo intake? Don't know about the first, but there is a valve called the air recirc valve that dumps boost back into the turbo intake under computer control.

Sounds like your cold softening circuit is working, but the normal shift control still has a leak.

Keep looking, you will find it!

Also, since you have dead transducers, check the restrition in the hose to the big "T" -- it may have crud in it, decreasing the vacuum capacity.

Worked on things a little more tonight, started double checking the vac system starting with the line going to the new transducer..... big leak from the new transducer???? This is a new verson, pt. no. 000-545-03-27, with vac applied directly to the VAC port and the OUT port plugged it leaks down, high pitched squealing........arggggg ...... is this right?

Restriction in the big tee? is this the tee on the small line coming off the vac pump? no restriction devices I can find, this might be part of the problem? What does it look like?

Thanks

Eric

Eric:

Leaks down with a squeal sounds like a defective part to me, but check with the dealer, they may leak. Who knows.

The restrictor, it if it is there, is a little white or yellow plastic connector, almost invisible installed as looks like a butt connector -- nipple on each end of a disk the size of the hose. Usually just underneath the T. If not there, someone has already removed it to fix low vac. If there, make sure it is clean -- has a small hole through the two nipples.

At least yours runs! I'm still battling the 280 -- discovered last night I have two stucking calipers, so plan on rebuilding all four, along with four new rotors.......$300 more bucks. I'm getting close to the $1000 mark, where I quit for a while.
