switchover valve question

Does the line from the banjo/intake go to the TOP of the switchover valve then from the BOTTOM to the ip/alda or is it the other way around? or does it matter? Thats the way I assembled mine after cleaning the line and it seems to be fine. The reason I ask is that I recently looked at a vacuum diagram in a parts catalog (Performance Products) they show the line going to the BOTTOM of the switchover valve from the intake and the out from the TOP to the alda. Anyone know which is correct? Also, is that a setting control on top of the switchover valve or just a cap?(black plastic) Thanks in advance and sorry if this has been covered -couldn't find anything in the search. Bryan
