window channel rubber/felt question.....please advise!

I have spent a good 3 hours looking for a place to buy replacement window channel rubber/felt. I have come up empty handed and would like some help in finding a supplier.

The current channel rubber is very old and cracked. The window does not fit tightly in the slit of the channel when the window is rolled all the way up. I'm sure that I'm not the only one with a W123 who has this problem. Has anyone replaced this? If so, a list of part numbers and source(s) would be nice.

While I am at it, I would also like to replace the rubber strip that runs along the outside of the window glass (it fits between the glass and metal part of the door...right above the handle to open the door.) Mine has a few chuncks missing from the strip and I would like to replace it too.

I fear that this stuff isn't made any longer.

Thanks,
mike

These parts are available new. Try calling Phil at PartShop - start by clicking on the link above. If he can't help you can always get them from the dealer.

I looked on fastlane for the parts but could not find them. Are there some parts that aren't listed under fastlane?

window skweegee

I had trouble locating these parts also. So I went to a junker and picked out the best four. Rewowal is straight forward with a hammer and a wood block. Angle the wood block at about 45 degrees under the edge of the chrome strip and gently tap the block along the length of the chrome strip. This will hopefully minimize bending of the chrome strip. There are 3 or 4 fasteners on each door. You may have to use a narrow slot screw driver to pry open the fasteners. The fastener holds both the window skweegee and the chrome strip to the top of the door skin. The window skweegee and and the chrome strip should come off as one unit and the window skweege can be removed once the unit is off the car.

The rubber strip on the outside of the window glass on my '80 300SD is cracked also. Do you mean that I can replace te rubber strip from the outside with out taking the door all apart?
