Leaking Diesel

The problem child is my 95 MB E300 Diesel w/ 103K miles (606 engine). I noticed a drip from around the spin-on filter housing. I've not recently changed either the (main) fuel filter or the pre-filter.

The leak just started yesterday. It wasn't leaking over the weekend because I was under the car changing the AT fluid and filter and I would have noticed, I'm sure. Last evening I smelled a little diesel while I was double checking the AT fluid level and noticed a slight weeping from around the fuel filter housing. I wiped around it and didn't get much on my rag at all. This morning it's "... drip, drip, drip."

I would guess a bad o-ring, but, as I say, I've not chamged out or touched either of the fuel filters in a while... say 12,000 miles. Would an 0-ring just start leaking?

Anyone have any ideas for troubleshooting in order of priority?

Thanks.....
