Lightbulb Rolling over 300k this week

My 83 300SD is clocking up to 300,000 mile in the next few days. Seems like a big deal to me, and I'd like to do something for my car and myself to celebrate. What's your opinion? If you wanted to do something nice as a general improvement, say for $400 or less, just for the joy or comfort, what would you do? The car is in very good shape, well maintained and we'll pretend that it won't be a waste of money on a junker.

Welcome to the forum. I have an '82 with 140K. Have you recieved any mileage badges from Mercedes? That is a cost free thing you could do.

Yes, if you don't already have one, call 1800 for merc and ask for a high mileage award form. Fill it out and mail it in. They will send you a 250,000 kilometer badge. Then about 10,000 or 15,000 miles from now you can send in another and get your 500,000 kilometer badge.

Then you can use your $400 to step up your oil change and preventive maintenance program.

Good luck,

I carried my camera for days around 333,333 then I forgot to turn it on as the odo turned to 333,334. Guess I'll have to wait until 444,444.

Mr. Apgate, I think you should treat yourself and your Benz to new drivers seat springs and new foam. Then you would feel like you are driving it as new again. Then maybe take it for a nice long Sunday afternoon drive.........

Rolling Over

Mr Agplate, I would have it washed and waxed and
then go to a nice restaurant and have a big steak.

Peyton, why didn't you take that picture of your Benz
three hours earlier and you would have 200,000 miles
2,000 rpm. 20 mph and 2'oclock...now you will have to
wait til 300,000...oh well.

Bill! haha, you're brilliant. let's really see how far we can go with this. can you imagine someone getting 1 before the 300,000 mile rollover. they'd be sitting at the side fo the highway waiting for hours and hours for it to be 3:00 for the sake of the photo. these days i can airbrush the clock to be 2:00 and it would look real and save time and focus!

but what a great idea.

300k - New Seat

These cars are amazing. I reached 300k this weekend, and also replaced the springy seat bottom and pad. Thanks Billrok. I've heard that it makes a huge difference, and it does. I feel like I'm driving a new car! This is a great idea for a 300k prize.
Thanks for the info on the mileage badges as well. I followed through on that, too. I admit I always thought they made a car look bourgeois or geezerish, but I guess they've been earned!!
Thanks for the posts!

A can of Diesel Purge for your car and a glass of champaigne for yourself. Congratulations! You'll both benefit by feeling better

Diesel owners are the only people who might ever be accused of

rolling their odometers FORWARD!
