1975 300D injection pump question
I have a 1975 300D classic in excellent shape...except for the engine.
The old engine was worn out, so I dropped in a used engine (94K) The concens with this engine is that only one of the injectors was spitting out fuel with any pressure. Thinking I had a bad injector pump on this used engine I took it off and replaced it with the injector pump from orginial engine. Now I do not get any fuel to spit from the injector pump. How I installed the pump was: Put the engine at 45 BTDC. Match marked the pump and flange. Removed the rear bolt removed the three front bolts. Made sure the new pump was in the exact position as the onld one. ie the mark on the spline in the same position. Then put on the new pump, gettting it as close to the mark in flange as possable. I dont get any fuel from the pump, any ideas why? |
