Question Trap oxidizer for sale

I got a chuckle uot of this, someone is selling a used trap oxidizer!

I must be missing something......I thought it was a free upgrade at the dealer to remove the trap oxidizer and install it after the turbo? Maybe not.

Someone should tell this guy:

A. The oxidizer is obsolete
B. The upgrade is free at the dealer
C. A buyer would need to have his head examined to install a used T.O.
D. California only checked the emissions on these new so you can import a used diesel w/o the oxidizer.
E. All of the above.

Thanks for the chuckle to start my morning.

BTW, in case anyone is interested, I have some Firestone tires from an Explorer for sale. They are very rotted looking and will most likely come apart and cause your car to roll over, but I will sell them cheap.

Have a great day,

I e-mailed the seller and told him that he was selling an obsolete part, and asked him why he was selling it.

One other funny, 0 bids, its starting for 5$ and costs 15$ to ship!!!!

I think the seller is hoping to prove the "Greater Fool" theory. Unfortunately for him and based on the bids he's gotten (0), he may be the one at the end of the line.

Maybe a good use for the Trap would be to buy it for the flanges on the ends, and then you could fabricate a tube in place of the guts of the Trap. Just a thought.

adamb,

Why would ANYONE do that when they can take any US MB equipped with a trap oxidizer to their dealer and get a whole new exhaust system absolutely free, labor and all?

Have a great day,

Larry,

Hello, I have an Oxidation Cat on my car, a 1985 300D, which was replaced by MB about a year ago. They said this will lasta lifetime, but the recall wasn't the same as the one with the 6 cyl engines where they did replace the exhaust system and get rid of the trap. I don't know why they kept it in the 85, but.....
I wouldn't mind tearing into mine and welding up a bypass pipe - if I had a spare trap and could use the flanges....
Thanks,
Adam
