Vacuum
If a man were to use a good vacuum gage on the pump, what reading should he get ??
About a year ago, I used my unit on both the VW and the Benz and was surprised that the VW pump(known to be good) was much more powerful. I am the same man with the inoperative heat/AC system, the engine comp heat controller is, IMO, "toast" (cracked, corroded, and clogged). I do not have $700 for a new one. As I recall, a rebuild kit from the dealer is $225, but I have doubts as to the rebuildability. Adrian , a 300D and two VW Diesel caddies

On my '84 300D, I get about 20-21 in. of vacuum at the double check valve coming off the pump, prior to entering the brake booster. This is the rated amount of vacuum for this year-model; yours is probably similar.

Thank you, Matt
I am becoming more convinced now that the check valves are leaking.
