Opinions Needed on This W124 300D

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1873634215

I already have a 275k mile 300SDL and it's been a great car, save for needing a new top end about 40k miles ago. I'm aware of the common problems/advantages of the OM603. But what I was more interested in is opinions of THIS particular car.

It appears to be priced fairly and has enough miles on it to avoid repairing some of the things that wear out between 150 and 200k.

One major drawback is not having any service records.

Should I buy this one, I really don't want to have to do another 603 top end. Considering mine was done at a dealer, it ended up costing about as much as the Buy-It-Now price is on this 124.

LOL. I already have an 87 300SDL that I love dearly. I'm not in NEED of another car, just thought the W124 may make a nice addition to the already overgrown stable.

That 87 300D looks nice, but I think if you look you can find one in the $4,500 range with those miles.

There is a nice 1996 S350 on ebay with 15x,000. I think I would buy it, because it is a 96.

Is this the car? It's a 1995 I believe.

I checked it out and it looks good from the outside and the price is good too. Too bad I'm not ready financially to maintain one of these.

Over summer I sat in one with an A/C that was no better than my car (it was blowing semi cold). The outside temp was about 100F though or around there.

BTW, that E300 is really really nice.

Yes, that's the car. If I had the cash, I'd offer him some money for it. The 140 chassis is a beautiful car.

Were the engines in all the 95's updated or only those at the end of the model year?

It sure is. When I go and check out the W124 Coupe they have..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6335&item=1873515061

I will also start the S350 and have a look around in case anybody is interested.

I had time to run Carfax for the S350 and it turned out to be a private car (I thought it was for a limo service) with clean title and correct mileage, and no accidents (according to Carfax).

The seller is a great guy and is not pushy unlike a lot of dealers I've met. (Especially MB dealers and high volume dealers)
