where is the location of fuel tank in 300SD

I'm wondering if the fuel tank in a W126 300SD is between the rear seat and the trunk as i know it is in some of the other models. The reason i'm asking is that i plan on installing an amplifier in the trunk and mounting it flush against the most forward wall of the trunk is an ideal spot, as long as i can drill through it for the mounting bolts/screws. Any other good locations for a place to put an amp to drive two 6x9's?? thanks,
Ryan

Yeah, it's behind the rear seat. My 300SDL had an amp mounted on the back wall of the trunk by the previous owner, there is some clearance.

If I remember correctly, the back wall of the trunk folds down with a few screws or even comes out.

Yes the panel is removable so you could remove it do the drilling so you don't drill into the tank.

I would mount thw amplifier on the bottom so most the weight is on the floor. The panel next to the fuel tank isn't metal, not to robust and is only held in place by a few small screws. Some of those high powered amps are heavy.
