Anyone in Chicago seen this car?
Hey,
I've got a deposit on a 87 300 SDL at Fox Valley Motorcars in Chicago. Anyone know of it's history? I'm going to have their service department check it out. Is anyone close that would do me a favor and take a look at it before I drive down from Mpls this weekend? 87 300 SDL If that link doesn't work, go to www.foxvalleymotorcars.com and do a search for Mercedes. Thanks for any help! -m

I recommend you avoid the conflict of interest and have someone else inspect the car.
The photos are terrible. If they're accurate, that doesn't look like the driver's seat of a $6000 SDL. Whitewalls? Good luck. Sixto 91 300SE 87 300SDL 83 300SD |

You would think for $6K they would throw in a $100 set of new floor mats!!
I agree with Sixto... good luck.

Hey,
Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it and will see what can be done. Any suggestions on price? Those pictures are pretty choppy. Thanks. -m PS: I'll be getting the info on the condition of the car this evening and will post.

I know some do not like Kelly Blue Book but...
Trade in on the car is $2325 - That is likely what the dealer paid Private party sale is $3725 - More realistic Dealer sale price is $5625 - I think this is too high especially without records, crummy tires, tired floor mats and who knows what else at 175K and the above not being taken care of before they took pictures!! I would make sure everything works, have whatever does not fixed, the tires and mats are replaced and offer $3800. They will counter at $4500 (if not walk), then settle at $4200 and hope for the best. If this were a car being sold by the owner or someone on this forum it would be a different story. Ask Turbodiesel if he still wants to sell his. It has more miles but at least you know it has been meticulously cared for

Well, they say the only problem is it has worn out drivers seat springs. A Florida car, no rust. Records up until late 2001, regular maint has been followed. It's on consignment so there's some wiggle room.
I'll be going down on Saturday to look at it--I'm 50/50, take it at a decent price or leave it. We'll see. Thanks for the opinions! -m PS: They said tires were new, but just a regular S speed rated tire, nothing fancy. Gotta get those whitewalls turned around eitherway! ![]()

Is it just me, or are there 2 milage awards on the grill? If they are milage awards, then the stated odometer reading can't be right. I am still a "newbie" so I am probably wrong.

Here's some for reference:
I don't know how you feel about a car 1500 miles away, though. Sixto 91 300SE 87 300SDL 83 300SD |
