Timing Chain Stretch

Is there a good explanation of how to check for timing chain stretch around? If not, could someone please expain it for me, please? I'm going to do a valve adjustment again this weekend & I'd like to check for that while I have to cover off.
Also, is there anything else I should look at while I'm under there?
By the way, I got a set of valve adjusting wrenches from **************.com this week, they look really good. Anyone else get anything from him?

Thanks!

Timing chain stretch,

Turn the engine over with a wrench until the factory camshaft marking (spacer washer with a notch) ligns up with the cast mark on the camshaft tower. Look at how many degrees you are on the crankshaft.

If you find the timing chain is streched beyond the recommended stretch (8 degrees?) then try to get a peek at the banana slide on the rt side of the engine. It is the big one mounted more or less vertically. If it is deeply grooved you will need to plan on replacing that also.
Someone here should have the exact timing chain stretch allowance.

Thanks for the explanations! Are there degree marks on the engine or do I need a protractor to measure it?

Do you have any manuals? The Haynes is good and could get you through this. It is not diffacult and you can do it everytime you adjust the valves. Good Luck
