Replacing Flex Disk

I am going to replace the rear flex disc on my '79 300SD. The new disk looked symmetrical but there is the word "JURID" on one side.

Is this an indication that JURID should face front or rear? Which should it be or doesn't it matter?

Since nobody answered, I put the new flex disk in the same way the old one was, JURID toward the rear. THe front flex disk also had JURID toward rear.

We were all just stunned that you would replace something before it broke. Even after several hours, I'm still having troubbbbbble typing.

Some front flex disks are directional (the newer ones with cut-outs around the bolts for cushioning), but I don't think the rear ones are. You won't go wrong putting it in exactly like the old one, though.

Ken300D,

The disk was starting to fray so it was time to replace it. I'm not agianst replacing parts but not before that are worn out. I'm leaving for FL FRI and I don't want to have it break 1/2 way there.

Front one looks OK so I certainly won't replace that one yet. Just because one wears out is no indication the other one will.

I replaced a few rear ones but I can't ever remember replacing a front one.

TXBILL,

I'll keep the flex disc in the trunk for a spare like you should have kept your old fuel filters for spares.
