123 dashcaps
Hi,
I am starting to look into getting a dashcap for my car. The interior is great, but the cold of this fall/winter had done bad things to the dash, making a long crack, and widening two very minor ones up by the defroster ![]() I have looked at the dash caps at performance products and dashcaps.com (wow, they have a lot of shades of blue offered). I have a few questions: 1. Does someone have a picture of a pre and post-capping that they could post? 2. How does it work around the climate sensor in the dash? How do you extend the tubing, do you have to remove the little grate over the 'real' one on the actual dash? 3. Same for the speakers... does the cap have its own speaker grilles? Does it have attachments to screw the grilles into the cap?Or does it have indents where the speakers are, as the two heights would be different. 4. My car is a 1983 with a blue interior. I assume there is only one blue offered, what is the official name for the blue interior? 5. I have read on here that it is best to not glue the cap on. How does it keep held then? 6. does it appear to have more overhang around the vents, and particularly the glovebox? I cant imagine how it couldnt be higher at the top of the glovebox (the door is no longer flush to the dash) as compared to at the wood trim or below. does this look funny? 7. Reccomendations for a company that makes good quality MB dashcaps? Thanks very much, JMH
