Real quick, how hot does the tranny outside case get?

Hello! I'm just wondering how hot, on average, the outside of the tranny gets? I'm planning to put a "funnel" in for my a/c drain (a 'la Jim), and was thinking about attaching one of the vinyl hoses O got to the bottom of the funnel, if it'll fit. I just want to make sure that the tranny case won't melt the vinyl hose...

Thanks!

I doubt it will hurt the hose but keep in mind if it ain't there you will never know it.

Warden,
I think trannys can get pretty hot depending upon the conditions (hense the need for a tranny oil cooler). The real question is how much heat can your hose take? I doubt it melting a bit would really hurt except if it somehow melted shut and blocked the drain. Of course there is the unique smell of melting plastic to enjoy.... If possible try to route it so it isn't in direct contact with the tranny and you'll likely be fine.

Actually, I wound up not using the hose; it didn't fit on the part of the funnel that the cap went on...

However, things didn't change any. When I had the drain hose off altogether and turned the heater on (EC mode), without having had the a/c on, the car wouldn't get fogged up...although it would get fogged if the a/c had been on. Now, it's back to getting foggy and humid inside whenever EC mode's on.

Warden - I did the repair to mine to resolve the wet rear floorboard syndrome. Sounds like you have an issue that is buried further up in the dash than I did. I did not realize that was your problem.

The wet rear floorboard problem was resolved (I think; still haven't experienced a big rainstorm yet) by cleaning out the underhood drains; I had missed the two lower ones last time.

Actually, if anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear 'em...I was thinking that the heater core may be leaking, but I'm not smelling any coolant when the air's coming out...but I'm open to options at this point.
