603 IP Pressure Valve Torque Procedure?
I am about to replace my pressure valve seals. My MB W126 CD manual says "tightening torque 35Nm" with no footnoe.
I have found the following post: "Actually, the TDM spec is 30-35Nm... BUT you don't just screw it down. The footnote states: To obtain a correct seat of delivery valve holder sealing rings, tighten delivery valve holder to 30Nm and release, tighten once again to 30Nm and release again, then finally tighten to 30Nm + 5Nm. Excessive tightening may cause a leak on elements at low and high pressure end by distortion of the injection pump housing." There makes for conflicting info on this topic and I really want to get it right. Can anyone actually confirm the "TDM 30-35 Nm" spec quoted above? Thank you. |

Yep. It's in the 1988 Technical Data Manual (TDM). Handly little book to have, worth the $40 from MB...
