Question on Part...

Does anyone know what Part # 001-540-8697 is and what it does? I spoke to a Rep at DEI, regarding getting my remote start to work, and they told me that I needed THAT part for my 93 300D in order to get the remote start to work...

any feedback???

thanks...
Mario

On Fastlane when you search the part number it says it is a Vacuum Change-Over Valve.

has anyone ever installed this part? I am assuming that the valve is electronically controlled in such a way that when triggered, it opens the vacuum that sends fuel into the engine...is this correct? I was told that this is part needed to get my remote start working in my car....

thanks in advance...

My guess is that it's the opposite. They want to use the switchover valve to intorduce vacuum to the engine stop unit so the engine turns off. I'm sure installing a remote start unit requires such a safety feature.

I'll be interested to know how they get around the glow time.
