Glowing....
What is the best method for cycling glow plugs? Once for 45 seconds or three times and wait till the light goes out? Or is there a better method"

I'd have to say a continuous glow would be better. No cool down time makes for a higher final temperature in the cylinder.
Though do you guys really need to preheat that long???? I preglow no longer than 15-20 seconds on a day that is 15F and I have no problems with startup and no misfiring... On a 0 F day I preglowed for 30 seconds, and it fired up fine as well with no block heater. Just some thoughts.

Why glow at all then? I think I would just stay in and build a fire...

Have you considered getting a factory shop manual for your car ? It has lots of these kinds of questions already answered in it...and you don't have to choose between widely differing opinions....

I have the factory CD and it doesn't really help much.

I have found that, even after the glow-plug light goes out they are still recieving battery power.I count to 10 AFTER the light goes out.It has helped on those cold mornings.

On the colder mornings, I turn the key and leave it on until the dash lights glow brighter or the fan speed increases as an indicator that the glow plug relay just opened. Then I cycle the key again. Depending upon the temperment of your car and the outside temp, you can repeat this process as many times as you wish.
