FrankieZ,

You must mean the one on 8-mile just east of the Southfield freeway. I once got a great deal there on a Hitachi pneumatic nailer for $67.

I live a mile from the Southfield HD. One associate there told me of a guy who was there a few weeks ago and went through checkout with only a coil of rope. He came back into the store again and left with nothing. Later, they found him trying to hoist a $1500 generator over the wall outside in the garden section. I don't know how he would have gotten it over the top, or even what he would have done when it came down. LOL

Nope. Actually, I'm at the one in Harper Woods (Eastland Mall). They try to do that same thing at my store. They go to the outside garden dept and put things thru the metal fencing. And either they wait until they leave and go pick it up or they have someone out there waiting to grab the stuff.

Our old return policy of "no receipt needed" used to kill that store. I talked to people who worked there and they said everyday like clockwork they would see the crack addicts crossing 8 mile to come to the store to steal stuff.

Unbelievable!

Thanks for all the advice and great stories. The car came home last night. It was missing for about 48 hrs. This morning I noticed it parked three house away. The thieves obviously found the "hidden" key, as it was in the ignition when I found the car. I believe it was taken by a couple of slackers in my daughter's high school class. I don't have evidence with which to prosecute. Only circumstantial evidence and very little of that.

Anyway, there was no damage to the car. Nothing was stolen. Basically, a lesson learned for my daughter and me.

Thanks to all of you guys for the wishes of good luck. It helped.

Bruce, glad you got the car back. Take a piece of radiator hose, the universal "corrugated" stuff is best, get the longest one you can, 18" is fine. Stitch one end shut with an awl and fishing line. Pour in enough lead shot to fill the hose about 4". Stitch the other end closed. Track down said slackers, discreetly of course and well disguised, then whack the snot out of them with said hose. That'll learn 'em. RT

It was good news to hear you have your beloved Benz back
home. With all the Mercedes guys on here, if this happens
again to any of us, if you can POST a picture of it with the
message surely some one will see it.

I drove just over 350 miles today and meet two Mercedes and
say one parked in a small town. So we do notice other MBs. Bill
