just put my a/c belt on the other day. after i tok off the main serpintene belt i only used a screw driver for the a/c. put all the way over the a/c compressor pully and as much as i could over the other pully. turned the engine over shut it down, and voila! ac belt is in place.

Sometimes that works but it often times it stresses the belt (it can tear some cords internally) and the belt fails prematurely. Keep an eye on that one.
